Met a 100+ year old WWII Veteran today

I did a little work at his house today. He was a Gunner on a B-24. He flew over 50 missions in the European theater.
He couldn't really hear much, but he was quick with stories from 70+ years ago, remembering minute details like they were yesterday.
Said after the war, he applied for a job with a big refinery. They asked him why he bombed some of their facilities in Eastern Europe, and he said,"Hell, they belonged to Hitler at the time!"
Cool old guy.

They're disappearing fast. The stories they would tell at the WW2 museum in New Orleans are nothing short of awesome. Cherish them as much as you can.

I met one that stormed the beaches at Iwo Jima. His stories were gruesome.
