Mine isn't afraid at all. Probably likes it more when I work nights.
.38, 9mm and 12 gauge sleep in the room with her so it probably cuts down on fears.
The .38 sucks to shoot though. I wouldn't want to be on the other end.

Taser is a good idea since it sounds like she might shoot you one day. Dog is also another great idea. I would also throw in security cameras that she can moniter. I don't know if that will make her paranoia worse or better in the end though. I'm no therapist but she might need one.
