I got a Ruger LCP a few years back. I wish I had waited and got the 9MM version. It wasn't out at the time. I've shot one of those a few times, and it is decent for a small carry gun, and 9mm > .380.

My XDs9 has a pretty light recoil. My wife handles it easily and this weekend my 9 year old nephew shot it several times.

Most .380 have a perceived snappy recoil because they are blowback. The G42 is a locked breech, I would imagine the recoil is Very noticeably less than a .40 and a perceivably less than the G26. IMO.
