The DEA and ATF need to really just go away. They are the absolute worst at violating citizen's rights.

This is not an example of big government overreach...it is an example of the Police mentality run amok. The outrage should be the same whether the offender is the Feds or your local donut hunters.

Kaminski wrote that he then sifted through Kirking's household trash, detecting "a strong odor of green cannabis" in one plastic trash bag, and compared her home's electrical bill to that of her neighbors, finding that it was higher. Another officer conducted a field test on a green plant stem, which allegedly tested positive for marijuana. That was enough for a judge to sign a warrant.

Holy shite. How do you read that story and come away thinking that it's the DEA who needs defending?

It's the arrestee's attorney's version of the story of course it is going to favor the client. How many outlandish crazy stories have we heard from the attorney's of people that are dead to rights? And you don't even have any of the evidence from the other side to form an unbiased opinion.

Because I know that the DEA is not stupid enough to raid somebody solely because she bought a bottle of fertilizer.

We are running out of protections in this country and its sad.
They need to completely overhaul the police force at both a state and federal level.
It is these things the founding fathers were scared of. Not a national military.

Really? Those guys raid the wrong house entirely, every other month. I'm not sure they're the brain trust you think they are.

Wait?
DEA conducts surveillance on a store that is known to sell equipment used in indoor marijuana grow houses.
They observe woman shopping at said store.
They do a legal trash pull finding marijuana stems and gleanings in trash can
Execute a search warrant and find marijuana. Which is illegal.
Where did they screw up?

The part where they trampled on her rights to privacy and rights against an illegal search masquerading under the bullshite war on drugs guise of police power.
Just because something is legal doesn't mean it is right and FWIW i completely agree that the DEA needs to go away. What good do they do?

By waking up and breathing perfectly good American air.
DEA and ATF are nothing but jackbooted thugs. Give me one fricking reason why we need more than one federal law enforcement agency to enforce federal laws?

When law enforcement conducts a raid on a private residence, using military-style tactics and equipment, to find nine grams of marijuana, I tend to think something went wrong. And this isn't an isolated incident. Whether it was individual officers, or the whole institution, I don't really care.

I dunno but I kinda agree that we should oppose cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin distribution.

There are better ways. I will never understand law enforcement's lover affair with military style gear and tactics. I'm pretty sure it's because they just want to look cool and play soldier. With the amount of money they spend on all that training it's a wonder they ever make mistakes. But they do, because they are retarded.
And I'm willing to bet my paycheck that they would never use those high speed SWAT teams against a house that they knew was full of heavily armed men with real intent to fight back. You know why? Because they are pussies.
No, they use those bullshite tactics against old people and families. Why? So they can justify all the money they spend and continue to by cool gear and training to compensate for their small dicks.

Technically what they did was legal in today's world
But that doesnt make it right. Slavery and rape were both legal at one point in America.

Perhaps we should. But drugs will always be around. Always. They have been here since the beginning of time and they arent going away. People will always find ways to get high. It is more important to try and rehabilitate drug addicts and get them to become productive members of society than it is to throw every single person who has had a bad life or made a questionable decision into jail all but guaranteeing that they remain unproductive drug addicts.
And giving the federal government's agents the ability to legally SWAT raid a private residence for a tiny marijuana infraction which arguably should be legal anyway is horribly wrong and a completely abandonment of many of the core principles foe which this country and government were founded.
The consistent and systematic ingraining of military tactics and shoot first act later mentality in our local and state and federal police force is a horrible slippery slope which the citizens are being effected by more and more everyday.
Prohibition gave rise to some of the most powerful gangs and gang leaders in this country's history. The war on drugs is doing the same thing.
Decriminalizing the use of these drugs takes the power away from those gang leaders and puts more resources towards curbing the distribution rather than rounding up the addicts.
