Observations from 10 minute wait in grocery line behind EBT/WIC cust.

I've seen some whacky EBT/SNAP shenanigans in the past, and posted about them here. I saw something just a little while ago that floored me.
I was inline behind a young pregnant woman who started sorting all her crap out on the counter and whipped out some WIC checks. At first I thought, "Well, here we go." She apologized to me twice for taking so long.
I got to looking at what she(taxpayers) was buying. Milk, flour, eggs, sugar, 10# of rice, 10# of white beans, 5# of bologna, 20# of potatoes, onions, salt pork, tea (no soft drinks),
cabbage, lettuce and tomatoes. Nothing processed. No TV dinner stuff.
When she apologized the third time for taking so long, I told her it was refreshing to see a young woman who could cook these days. I was happy to see someone who didn't appear to be working the system.

Awesome. She shouldn't be prosecuted with the ones that do take advantage.

Does she live in a barracks?

I have no clue. I limit my spying to what others buy in the grocery line to a cursory glance.

Good to hear about someone not gaming the system, although I'm still frustrated to be subsidizing her growing family.

That's great that she can cook and all but I still don't wan to pay for her & her bastard childs food. Where is the baby daddy at? Why isn't he paying?

Boyfriend had a Halliburton jumpsuit on?? Probably making 50 K...... Anyway , at least with WIC they can only buy certain things, milk, cheese, bread, etc...... Its a pretty good program compared to the rest

Nope. Old Toyota pickup. She struck me as someone who won't choose welfare as a career. I don't mind tax dollars going to someone like this.

She is taking advantage. She is being subsidized to produce children that she can't support.

She has a thing called pride in herself.

I have no objection to a hand up. The hand outs bother me immensely however. On both sides of the political spectrum. You see, I am one the the few remaining traditional fiscal conservatives. B1 had it correct when he talked about compassionate conservatism.
Having said that, all he did was talk.

Half way through that sentence, I thought "Oh shite...he's going to put his foot in his mouth"
Well done

The prevailing Culture out there now, is ripping women to shreds. A lot are finding themselves adrift, with no sure loving male to help in child rearing and to grow old with. Have a little mercy on them that have a heart, but not the wisdom or will to know how to deal with it. Hard times.

I refuse to forgive those that ruin the lives of the unborn due to their ineptitude.
If you don't want to find yourself floating adrift, without a male to help with child rearing, don't have sex with men who won't support you. Women are not faultless.

And you're prepared to marry everyone you hook up with, right? In the event they get pregnant?

Agreed, J. Just from my experience, women are far more likely to act on feeling. They are paying a heavy price; and it'll get worse when things begin to collapse. Guess I'm old school. I generally expect more from the men. Sexist in some ways. Maybe my bad.

My actions have nothing to do with the argument I put forth, regardless of my answer to the question the argument either holds water or doesn't on its own merits.

It's not fair to women or men.

They aren't really paying any price right now. They are coddled by the state for their bad decision making. The people who are paying the price are the children.
