Also goes to show that even though Brees does make guys look better, you still have to have talent to be good.
Colston, despite the doomsayers, is still good.
I'll try to find it, but there was a chart that showed avg. HB production at each age vs. avg. WR production at each age(somewhere on ESPN) and WRs last a lot longer than HBs on average.
I think a 24 year old WR has equal avg. production to a 32 year old WR if memory serves right.

I guess that is part of my leeriness of 1st Rd WRs. The bust rate is high and many take a few years to really learn the nuances of the NFL. Many of them got by on sheer physical ability to overwhelm in college.

I think we could go 2 WRs again this year.
ETA: it might be a bad idea but I wouldn't mind Cooks in the first and Matthews in the second lol

A really good example of why you can't just look at college production.

quote:Actually that's probably the one scenario I could agree with going WR back to back. Good call.

Of course that's dependent on who else is available.

made me consider more 1st/2nd same position combos-
OG
David Yankey
Gabe Jackson
OT
Martin
Kouandjio
WR
Lee-Beckham-Cooks
Matthews-Landry-Richardson
DT
Nix
Dominique Easley
DE
Ealy
Trent Murphy
OLB
Attaochu-Shazier-Ford
Jeffcoat-Christian Jones
ILB
Mosley
Skov
CB
Fuller-Roby-Verrett
Joyner-Watkins
Best combo of those? Cooks-Matthews pretty flashy. Mosley-Skov the best total value

I think it sends a strong message. We drafted you because you can play, but we also drafted someone else who we think can play. All because you got drafted doesn't mean you're a lock for a position we need, the late round guy can come kick your arse out as well.

You're a research maniac so I'm prob wrong, but it seemed to me that dalton and Reuben were the same year too

I feel like Greg Romeus would have developed into a stud if he couldve stayed healthy

He skipped that year, 12 round draft. Think they drafted three rbs that year.

I just listed what I thought noteworthy
There were a lot of years when there were mega rounds that multiples were taken...
examples-
1967 RBs in the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 15th, & 17th Rds
1977 4 OTs
1972 4 guards
1970 5 DEs
etc
