I think the money is secondary to Cheney. Power is what motivates him. He's a sociopath, and he manipulated us into a war because he could. That's the only reason sociopaths need for the things they do.

He's SO far from a sociopath.
Get the frick over yourself. Let me give you the correct diagnosis.
Cheney is an ideologue. To say he is a "Neocon" would be technically incorrect, but maybe broadly correct. He is a part of the National Review School of Conservatism that agitated in it's peculiar way for Nation Building since the early 1980's. The idea was that America was going to spread democracy. It was a weird kind of Conservative Utopianism and it was sincerely believed. The people of Iraq would see Democracy, enjoy it, and it would spread. And it carried the day. And now we live with it's results.
If you were there, you'd know precisely how inevitable it was, and how correct I am. It played out slowly, built over time, and was the One Great Hubris of Conservatism. And a major reason along with Bush's Statism why so many on the Right have distanced and abandoned The Republican Party.
