First off, transom savers only act as a brace to keep the motor from bouncing. They aren't there to remove weight from the transom.
Exactly, the transom is designed to handle the force of the motor. If you use either, the transom will see far greater force on the water.

I didn't say it removed the weight, it prevents the transom bearing the brunt of the torquing of the motor when it's trimmed up going down the road and bouncing around.
Yes, the transom is designed for vertices and horizontal forces. And for torquing when the motor pushes forward. But remember, when the boat is running, it is also moving forward and thus "giving" to the force applies by the engine. When it's on the trailer, it's not giving an inch.

Alx, the one in the video is either shitty or wasnt installed correctly. It def didnt have the collars to keep the motor from turning.

Roy, I ran a wedge type on a performance hull that wasn't the best example of a strong transom. 12 year old boat with no issues and a 300 on it so it wasn't a light motor.

Actually they remove it by stabilizing the motor.

I've always had the trailer mount style.
Saw one of the others for the first time a few weeks ago, on two sets of yam 300's. I immediately thought... that's not helping the transom at all... but his trailer was a loonnng way from the motors, and he trailers it less than 5 miles to the ramp.
I agree the "trailer shock" isn't good though, but I think I prefer it to the 600# motor bouncing up and down on the transom, with no support.
And, unfortunately, I usually trailer as much or more than I run in the water. I bet my boat hates our roads.

Sure it does. Just like the other it's a second contact point to keep it from bouncing up and down or wiggling in bumps. The motor that is. If your talking about the boat bouncing I hope you dont think the other is helping any either.

That looks more like an Evinrude, it would be different for a Yamaha......
