Just illustrating my own experiences, and those of the people I know.

When I was gainfully employed, my salary was no where near what my husband made.

So, when it came time to decide who would be "on call", it was a no brainer. I quit working when my children were born. If I had returned to the job market, my earning potential was diminished, because of the time spent away from the "skill".

But I didn't.
And I've been mooching off of him ever since.
