San Marco is a great area, hang there for a bit.
I would make it out to the beach, Atlantic Beach is the best. If it is still there, there was an oyster/seafood restaurant with a flamingo on the sign, can't remember what it is called. Jax Beach has some great bars within walking distance of one another. The Ritz was always my favorite.
Angie's Subs for lunch out by the beach. Get anything with the Polynesian sauce
Downtown is pretty useless.
ETA the restaurant is called Sliders and its technically in Neptune Beach. That area is a pretty romantic, walking type area with small cobblestone streets and christmas lights and such.
