Horse Racing in Southern California

Has anyone here ever been to a track there? I'll be going to Anaheim in a couple days for a conference, and wanted to catch some live racing on Saturday. We originally talked about Los Alamitos because it is very close to us in Anaheim. But it looks like everything is quarter racing which is the short races. I may be wrong though so correct me if so. I prefer the longer races when I bet simulcast so I started looking at other options. We have a rental car Saturday and noticed that the Santa Anita Derby is that day. Would it be worth the drive to go there instead? I looked for a schedule to see what time the races would be that day, but all I could find was that it starts at noon. Can anyone help with this? I have a friend flying in around 10am Saturday and I'm not sure we could make a noon start. Thanks for any and all input!

I think the Santa Anita Derby would be a ton of fun. I've never been to any race tracks in SoCal .. but there's a couple Kentucky Derby hopeful there - California Chrome, Hoppertunity - who would be fun to watch.
Here's the PPs for the Santa Anita.
It's race 9. I would assume it'd probably go off around 4p PST.

Lived less than 10 minutes from Santa Anita. I'd go every now and again

Been to Santa Anita many times. While there are great races there, as mentioned above, the atmosphere is not nearly what it is at Del Mar in the summer.
Still a great time though, especially for the SA Derby. Best West Coast KY prep race.

When was the last time the Santa Anita Derby winner won the Kentucky Derby? Too lazy to research.

been there plenty of times
santa anita runs thursday - sunday thursday and friday first post is at 1pm local time, saturday and sunday it's at 12:30 local time expect on santa anita day it will probably be 11:30 or noon local time becuase they have more races
too bad they shut hollywood park down. nothing like going to hollywood park on a friday night
i would go this year just to see california chrome. that's a freaking race horse. he should be the derby fav but he won't because of his pedigree
