I never did it. I always cradled him. You only get so little time with them at that age. They need your touch.

I didn't really want to do it either, but people we know with kids say they did it and that it was tough for a night or two and then it was perfect. No more rocking to go to sleep.
I'm fine with helping in the middle of the night, but he's so particular about falling asleep. It's usually a 45 minute process after the lights go out just to get him down. He has to be in a full deep sleep while being rocked before going to the crib.
