I haven't tried audio books, but I did switch away from music...

I drive quite a bit for work and was getting really tired of it. I quit listening to music and now listen almost exclusively to talk radio of one form or another (nothing political). I like public radio and espn radio primarily. This has made a world of difference in my driving...I actually look forward to hearing certain shows now instead of just dreading the drive.
