If there was a true football playoff I would agree with you. But until that time it is not the hardest to win a NC. In fact I would contend it's the easiest for big schools but impossible for small schools...all due to the human element. Settle it on the field.

At this point it's not hard to get to the Final Four.
But it's still almost impossible to win it all unless you are
Duke
UNC
Kansas
Louisville
Kentucky
Florida
Syracuse
UConn
Michigan State
We've reached the point where Kentucky and UConn are called Cinderellas with a straight face.
At least in football an Auburn can pull a NC out of their arse. And nearly a second.
But it's still almost impossible to win it all unless you are

Exactly. Butler doesn't play for and almost win a national championship if basketball had a BCS type system.
Schools like Rice and Fresno State would have a combined zero national championships in baseball if there were a BCS type system in that sport.
