But ULL does have better programs going in some sports, like baseball and softball both being better than LSU this year head-to-head.

This is so short-sighted it isn't even funny.

Are you really extrapolating ULL's success in one game against LSU this season as a sign that their entire baseball program is better than LSU's? Really?

LSU is one of only a handful of profitable baseball programs in the country. ULL can only dream of having that. Beating LSU head to head in a mid-week game is nice and all, but let's hold off on the over-the-top kudos until they actually win something and demonstrate higher quality over time.

ULL will never go to a major conference and thus will never be a legit threat to LSU. They don't have a large enough population to drive TV ratings up and make them attractive to a conference like the Big 12. Your campus area population can be small if you have a statewide following like Texas A&M does. ULL will never have that.

Baton Rouge Metro Population: 820,000 (plus all of Louisiana that watches them)

Lafayette Metro: 277,000 - 479,000 (depending on definition of metro)

The Louisville comparison? 1,334,000
