Any recourse for someone who refuses to take care of a family member??

Long story short......
96 year old completely dependent grandfather is married to a lady 30+ years younger (he has $$). She has managed to isolate hi from all 5 of his children, so none of them now have any relationship whatsoever....which is terrible cause these are his last days and this is when family should be present.
I am one of only 2 grandchildren who has any type of relationship with him anymore, and that includes a monthly phone call from me, and a weekend visit or two every year.
So even though he has money and is capable of living comfortably, his wife refuses to spend it on him. She uses it to live a lavish lifestyle, constantly traveling. She won't spend money on around the clock help. She won't get him a physical therapist to help improve his constantly deteriorating condition (which really pisses me off the most). She won't have him do any exercises on his own....he simply sits all day long. She won't even upgrade his 30 year old shitty recliner that is beyond uncomfortable and difficult for him to get in and out of. It's almost like she is trying to speed up the process of death, while making his life as uncomfortable as possible.
As long as she is not letting him starve or completely neglecting him, is any of this actually illegal? Is there anything that can be done?
TLDR, I know

When my grandmother died, my grandfather put himself in a similar situation marrying a woman 30 years younger than him.
My aunts and uncles had her followed by a PI, and when he died, sued her.
It was a huge mess.
Sorry you're going through this. It would be easier to kill her, like Ryno said.

He's not a big talker, and it's difficult to make the trip more than once or twice a year.
I put forth more effort than he ever has in my life. But he's still my grandfather and I want him to live comfortably in his final days.

If there is neglect going on by the wife, contact the authorities.

They don't do anything. Trust me. Unless there is physical violence, nothing is done.

Yes, drop in a video cam and nail her arse. Sounds abusive.

not much at all...he married her, so he basically gives her permission to call the shots...
unless his doctors recommendations are not being followed, I doubt there is anything that can (or should) be done...

I can say this, my grandfather was a pretty rich guy too. Yours sounds like his brain is still all there, which may surprise you when the final will and testament is read.
The last line of my grandfather's was, and I quote, "...and to my wife Barbara, I leave nothing."
He may get the last laugh. Take solace in that.

Wow.
Was this a gold digger 2nd/3rd whatever wife like in the OP, or the one that went the long haul that he just despised by the time he died?

I guess if your grandpa realizes what's going on, he might sign over power of attorney to yall. That's about the only thing you'll get

I would really be interested in the long version of the story.
