If you do end up getting the nest in one piece without killing your self, put it In a plastic garbage bag and seal it shut for a year to allow for all the hornets and eggs to die, then spray lacquer on it, they look pretty cool in a camp ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconcheers.gif)

Does it really take a year to kill all the hornets? Paranoid much?
Got one at our camp too. Shot it down with a .22 and let it be for a week or so and came back to get it. There were some hornets still around but some wasp spray and a hat swung with uncanny accuracy pretty much got the thing into a garbage sack.
