Think Gordon had an average finish of 5 in that Chase and still lost.

Yeah, it was ridiculous. First year Jimmie showed the ability to lurk in the weeds all season and then go apeshit in the playoffs Jeff was on rails all year and had a terrific Chase, and the 48 was just killing fools. Hadn't seen anything like that before from either driver

Johnson just blew the doors off everyone in the Chase

That is just about every year in the Chase though

All-time, he has 24 wins in the Chase. The drivers who rank 2nd, 3rd, & 4th all-time, (Tony Stewart, Carl Edwards, & Greg Biffle), have combined for 26 wins

Well, since then, yeah

But no one saw that coming in 2007, not even sunshine-pumping me.

Good GOD

That's why he's on pace to be GOAT when it's all said and done. He turned te biggest field-leveling tools in the history of the sport into his own personal playground, and in an age of unprecedented parity.

Gordon was insane in 07. Would have won the title going away under the old points system.

The Chase has fricked Gordon. It fricked him the very first year it existed. He would have won the title had they not had the Chase in 2004. That would have been title #5. He would have also won it all in 2007, which would have been title #6.

Jimmie would have only won titles in 06, 09, & 13.

So Gordon would be the one chasing Petty & Earnhardt this year, not Jimmie, had the Chase never happened

It is what it is. Gotta adapt.

Really wish he could have '04 back, though. That one hurt

What's funny is, while the Chase fricked Gordon out of his chance at history, (7 titles), had the Chase started in 2003 instead of 2004, Jimmie would have won his 7th Championship last year as he would have won it all in 2003
