My curiosity wonders what would happen if we take this same scenario and modify it a bit.

so that makes it a crime scene at that point?

From a legal standpoint yes. And the police have the authority to conduct a brief roadside investigation that a bystander cannot interfere with.

This is Louisiana. Only the governor can arrest a sheriff.

Didn't you watch True Detective?

Wasn't directed at you per se, you were the last reply to reply to. But anyway, I do find it funny you replied with that. Guess I can roll my eyes too at the embellished situations of an officers life in danger that you conveniently stretched into this scenario. I was asking this question because someone said "doesn't matter if he's a lawyer." We'll what if he's more important than that? I tend to think we would've never heard about it.

I'm all for lawyers being humbled. Most are complete douchebags. But a lot of my family are LEO...they're mostly assholes too so I see both sides of this story. Think the truth is a mix of both though. Hope the tape comes out, would be interesting to watch.

Let's all be real here. The cop recognized the passenger and arrested him to get back at him. Not rocket science here. We can all see what went down.

Would be interesting to see people's responses if such a terrible thing would happen.

The videos of officers being shot due to the passenger getting out of the vehicle was just to show how dangerous that is for the officers and why police do not allow the passenger out. And why they will arrest you if you do not follow their instructions.

The court system takes officer safety into account.

No, not a police state, just the enforcement of the laws..

If you don't like the laws, call your legislature and have them change the laws or take it off of the books

Are there officers that step out of line, yeah it does happen. And those should and most often are held accountable. Some get away with it., unfortunately.

Don't blame the officer that follows the laws. Again if you think the law is chickenshit, then lobby the lawmakers to change it.

I completely disagree with the government telling an adult they have to wear a seatbelt.. I wear mine but that is my choice, if someone does not want to that's their dumbass decision for them to make

Someone loves them some police.

Ok lets be real.

You have a biased view of police officers therefore you want to re-write the law and ignore court precedence due to your biased opinions.

You missed the facetiousness of it.

He had a valid point but I could roll my eyes and ignore it...same as he did to my valid point.

Why are you laughing at the U.S. Constitution?

Cop: Answer my questions now.
Citizen: I wish to exercise my right to counsel before answering any questions.
Cop: Ok. I'll arrest your counsel for interfering with my investigation if you talk to him. I am a cop after all and can do what I please.

Are you really stupid enough to think any judge will allow that?
