Just turning 40 and I dip two cans a day. I stay with sinus infections and have done everything but take away the dip.

I think what I'm the most worried about is those "moment dips". The cutting grass dip, or messing around in the garage dip. I think I can just lay it down but the "moments" will be my downfall. He'll I could just shoot bourbon when the moments come lol

This is an insane amount. I dipped for about 13 years but at most was doing a can every 2-3 days.

1. I got to the point where I wasn't even enjoying it b/c I kept thinking about the long term consequences - this of course did not kill the nicotine addiction but it helped with urges.

2. Made a list of those consequences including: money spent per month, health effects, pictures of those health problems, etc...

3. I've never enjoyed smoking a lot so I knew (for me at least) that it would be possible to smoke an occasional cigar (1x/week when I really wanted a dip) until I wanted neither.

4. I went cold turkey. I didn't trust myself to stick to some weaning schedule. Gotta decide if you can do it. Identify trigger times to anticipate needing a dip

5. I also had TONS of sunflower seeds on me at all times. I'd throw a bunch of them in as if they were a dip.

You should spend a great deal of time looking at pictures from long term dippers. I'm not just talking about the tooth loss and gum disease (which is gross enough). Go do a picture search for guys that have had partial mandibulectomies (removal of the mandible/jaw bone) b/c their oral cancer started invading the bone tissue. Keep copies of hte pictures around you if necessary. Oral cancer also has a high rate of metastasis (spread) to tissues like the lungs. Once that happens, you're probably going to die. Just not worth it.
