Found 200,000 bitcoin that they had previously lost. You know what this feels like? The heat is on this guy and all of the sudden, "Hey we found some"

In a bit of news that's familiar to anyone who ever put on an old jacket and found $20 in the pocket, embattled Bitcoin exchange Mt. Gox has made a fortuitous discovery. The company announced (PDF) in Japan that it found 200,000 Bitcoin (worth nearly $116 million at the moment) in a wallet from 2011 that it no longer used. That's less than a quarter of the 850,000 Bitcoins CEO Mark Karpeles reported were missing, but at the moment, at least it's something. According to its statement, the coins were moved to online wallets on the 7th, and then to offline wallets on the 14th and 15th.

Give the gut a break. The hackers couldn't find them either, or else they would have stolen them with the other Bitcoins they got away with.

Of course they did... Now that they are in deep shite and facing legal action, they are slowly going to find the "Missing" coins

I don't see the problem here. I am constantly finding money in couch cushions and pants when I do the laundry.

I find 100 million in my pants all the time.

have any of the bitcoin devotees explained why an EXCHANGE is holding so many bitcoins?
If they're really just market makers then there should be no reason for them to hold hundreds of millions of $ worth(I'm using this term lightly here) of bitcoin.

Good lord, who is that smokeshow in ZereauxSum's post?
Sorry, but I have to know.

Many of your so called bitcoin devotees saw this exchange as poorly run and expected its failure.

People were stupid and trusted their bitcoins were safe on the exchange, instead of sending them to their own personal wallets.

And a bunch of people still make the same mistakes on other exchanges. Never hold bitcoins in an online wallet!

yep, the only time I do is when I'm trading. Which is actually pretty often, but I'm aware of the consequences. If they came up "missing" it would be my fault for letting it happen.
