Majority of craftsman is made by Danaher, you would be surprised at the numerous other brands they produce as well.

OP, for ratcheting wrenches, if you dont want to spend on the more pro tool brands, Id stay with GearWrench(which is also made by the same company that makes craftsman )

as mentioned before check your local pawn shop. When i was in college, all of my hand tools were stolen out of my truck's tool box. I hopped around town looking for tools at the pawn shops. i made a deal with one of the pawn shops for $1 per 3/8 and 1/2" sockets. i walked out with a plastic shopping bag full of tools for $30. i cannot imagine what that would have cost new at sears and lowes. If you dig around you will find colbalt, craftsman, and other decent brands.
