Unless you just want to see it for the historical significance, don't. I don't know one person under 50 who has actually watched the show and liked it.

Now you do.
And it's not "historical significance" unless you're a student of film history. I didn't get it the first time, either. But, that was because I was usually catching bits and pieces of it.
When I finally sat down and watched it as a single piece - (and I already knew the ending) - I completely got why it is so well regarded, even to this day. While it is not nearly my favorite film - even of that era - it is the template for virtually all of the biographical films that followed. Also, the numerous techniques that Welles used in making the film - while not revolutionary - were kind of unusual to all be used in such a film. The lighting, the low angle 1 shots, just a whole host of things make this a significant movie.
While the filmmaking technique gets a lot of praiste - the story is great - although you do have to be somewhat mature to identify with it.

That's unusual. There are a lot of people under 50, especially movie buffs, who like and admire it.
