Downtown Indy is really nice and getting better. The area around Lucas oil stadium is great and there is a pretty cool minor league baseball park next door, along with a soccer stadium. The locals are Midwestern friendly and it's easy to meet people.
I wouldn't hesitate to spend a couple of years there.
