Fwiw OP I'm in the process of moving back to Cleveland. It's my wife's hometown and I recently came up on a pretty nice job opportunity. We left in 2008, but visit usually about once a year, and it seems to be thriving way better than when we left.
If you have a good job, love sports, and aren't a completely miserable frick that doesn't know how to socialize and meet people, any major city can be a fun place. And Cleveland is very close to a lot of interesting towns.
ETA: if you're just gonna be there a year for training, it could be a good experience.
