Fat people complaining that eating healthy is expensive

I don't want to get off on a rant here, but it's time for that thread again.
I recently got to wondering about this topic again, because my parents are back on a, what I'm sure will be short-lived, kick. They just don't get it...and if you ask my dad, he blames being very obese on genetics and not the fact that for years he spends all day on the couch with nothing to do but watch old reruns and eat and snack on 5K calories per day. Never mind the fact that his father never weighed more than 155 lbs.
So after spending more time around them...I see the issue. Behind it all, the notion that eating healthy is more expensive is very false when you consider that most obese people eat more that 1 serving of anything they buy. The frozen, breaded chicken wings he cooked today were cheap on the surface. However, the bag reads, serves approximately 8. He ate 6 out of the 13 in the bag. That averages to 1004 calories there. Never mind the corn, beans, and sausage that were on the side.
But here is the kicker: In an effort to "eat healthy," he put a pack of the steamer bag green beans in the microwave. So rather than substituting a healthy option, he, and what I imagine most obese people do, simply added it. So he added cost to the bottom line instead of swapping out things to even it out.
I read this earlier and I like this viewpoint:
TL:DR: Fatties gonna fat

I think the root of the problem is, in an attempt to eat better, people spend more on good stuff without cutting out the junk, thus the appearance that healthy food causes them to blow through their budget

Eating healthy isn't expensive. A salad is cheap. But when you want to add all kind of unhealthy shite to it, yeah it's gonna add up.
A healthy breakfast is cheap. eggs, a piece of wheat toast, maybe some oatmeal with berries and turkey bacon. But when you go through a dozen eggs in 2 meals of course it will be expensive.
You can eat broccoli without cheese. And if you do put cheese on it every now and then, you don't need a cup.
You don't need dipping sauce for every meat you have.
A turkey sandwich isn't healthy when you put globs of mayo on it.
Casseroles aren't healthy just bc they have vegetables in it.
I can go on and on. People turn healthy foods into fatty food and act like they're eating healthy.

meh
go look up the $50/week diets for bodybuilders
maybe not THE healthiest, but pretty damn clean considering the average diet

You know what the problem is? Portion control, and a lack of veg to protein and carbs, combined with an extreme lack of exercise.
When people do get salads, they load it down with fat which it then swims in. Veg is an afterthought, and usually quite pathetic on the plate, a real disappointment.

More expensive than eating shitty.

A body builder's diet is just that. For body builders. They're trying to get as much protein as possible bc they will literally lose muscle mass if they don't. Jay cutler sometimes loses 12 lbs in his sleep if he doesn't cram before bed. These eating habits aren't for average people.

In one trip to the grocery store, you can buy eggs, sweet potatoes, chicken, vegetables, and lentils.
That's enough to get you through 5 or 6 meals and it's well under $50.

The point I'm trying to make is that yes, that is an extreme, which means the average person should be able to eat healthy for even less than that

Bodybuilders also wake up and eat at 3:00 am and go back to sleep and wake up at 6 and eat 12 eggs.

My diet mainly consists of chicken breasts, frozen fish, brown rice, sweet potatoes, frozen veggies, bananas, and apples. That is easily under $10/day. It's not that difficult to eat good and cheap.

I understand that there are ways to eat healthy on the cheap (I think I manage well), but it's hard to beat the dollar menu in terms of cheap.

In all seriousness, it's a disease. What each views as his/her reality is reality. Love your parents for the people they are and for the love they gave you. Trying to change instinct is futile.

For a couple weeks I ate nothing but egg whites, brown rice, grilled chicken and sometimes broccoli mixed in. I got a couple tubs of protein shakes for $25/per for breakfast and snacks.
Healthy and cheap as frick. If people really wanted to they can eat healthy for cheap. They choose not to.

yea, it's cheap as shite and the fatass doesn't have to do much more than roll their fat, bloblike body out of bed to get it.
eating healthy is about more than just money. it takes a deliberate effort to regularly prepare healthier meals. fat people are obviously lazy as shite, so this is an impossible concept to 90% of them.

That's what I think it comes down to. I made avocado fajitas tonight. It wasn't long to cook but did take a little prep time. But a little chopping and peeling Is worth being able to see my dick and not get winded when speaking.
