I have a relative who has been a defense attorney for 20+ years. The best way to get out is to deny being drunk, refuse to every test, and let them bring you to jail. Most the time if you don't act like an a-hole they can't prove that you were drunk simply from the video.

And secondly and most importantly 99.9% of cops are complete dumbasses and do not write thorough reports thus they can't prove anything in court.

Good point, however, the problem you face is that 95% of cops writing DWIs these days specialize in DWIs. Even if you get stopped by a regular patrol officer, there's always someone working a DWI grant and the odds are, he's going to call them. They usually have excellent credibility in court since they hold all the certifications.

The good news is that even if they win and you get convicted, it doesn't seem to matter much. Have you seen all the 3rd, 4th, 5th and even 6th offense DWIs in the news these days? No one is really cracking down.

As for me, I just take the easy way out. Of course that's easy when you don't drink.

To answer the original question, you don't get your DL suspended for refusing the SFST, but you do for refusing the breathalyzer
