Starting Chantix tomorrow morning

Not excited about the crazy dreams or the upset stomach, but got a baby on the way and got to do it. I know there was a new years thread about quitting. Anyone quit this year? Anyone fall off the wagon whose tried Chantix?

I did the Chantix thing for the same reason. I didn't even finish the first month of meds. I quit and never looked back.
Chantix helped a lot, but I'm pretty sure my not wanting to force my newborn son to inhale my smoke was a bigger factor.
Never had any crazy dreams, I just puked pretty bad once I had the pills in my system and went for a smoke.
I quit April 8th, 2012. Haven't had a smoke since.

I quit 7 years ago with it. Completely removed my desire to smoke. If I tried it made me sick.
I didn't have crazy dreams. Good luck.

Took mine for 3 weeks and have not smoked since in 7 years. Watch out though, I "rewarded" myself each day with ice cream, and gained far too much weight. If you dont already, start working out now.
And good luck.

Thanks! Good luck in your attempt.

Chantix successfully helped me quit cigarettes almost 2 years ago. I've gotten drunk a couple times and smoked a cigarette but it was actually kinda disgusting and I didn't enjoy it.
I never had any crazy dreams like people describe, only the normal dreams I had just seemed way more vivid and real.
Good luck!

Once I could get hammered and not smoke is when I knew I had made it. That first time though was rough. Chantix was in full swing by then.

Buddy of mine took it for a few weeks and it seemed to work well for him.

I don't smoke all the time. I might have 1 or 2 on the way to the office...but when I drink (which is about every other day) I'm a chimney.
I am actually hoping that I won't go drink as much anymore too, because I think I actually go have drinks after work, just so I can smoke.

I quit with Chantix. It never made me sick or anything. You just kind of get tired of smoking when you don't get anything from it.

I did the chantix thing. Had the really weird dreams, but it also gave me severe mood swings. I lasted 2 weeks on it, didn't smoke for another month, and then found out my gf at the time was the town whore and I was right back chain smoking.

I would HIGHLY recommend reconsidering taking this drug. I had a horrible experience with it. There's a lot of research that this is a garbage drug. Could cause serious anger, suicidal thoughts, depression, etc. two thumbs down for this garbage drug.

If you have any mental illness issues, be careful cuz it effects the release of dopamine. For nausea, take it on a full stomach.

It's hard to finish a cigarette, even if you are hammered when you are using Chantix. Keep using it like the doctor says, even though you don't want one. It'll be 7 years in April, well worth it, and I haven't found any issues being around cigarette smokers. I do smoke cigars on occasion and also no issues.

I quit just this past couple of weeks. I went cold turkey but I broke a few times and smoked but after battling it for 3 weeks eventually it just got easier and the urges were easier to control.

Mind over matter, IMO.
I've smoked cigs while drinking for 18 or so years. I have zero desire to smoke a cig during the week whatsoever and could go the rest of my life not ever smoking another one.
Good luck on your journey.
