sounds like someone is mad that students parents can provide nicer things for them than what you had

Too bad you can live in a pretty nice apartment for just as much as the dorms. Theyre really fricking expensive.

Agree with all of that. I spent two semesters in Kirby Smith and two more in the Pentagon and I got by just fine. Paid for it all myself with loans too. I didn't need daddy's money.

recently? if so, you got ripped off. dorms are much more expensive than sharing houses off campus.

Dorms are a huge cash cow for a university. Overpriced

Cost me less to live in a condo as freshman than it cost my friends to live in Herget. And if you rush, you'll likely be at the fraternity house most of the time, anyway.

"Luxury student housing" should not exist.

Funny how even that has gotten out of control in the 12 years since I started lsu. Back then I was terribly jealous of friends who lived at Oak Brook. Then along came South Gate & LBP houses, then The Cottages and now this.

Been saying since 2000 that the ghetto was cheap land waiting to be snatched up. Glad to see I'm right.

Downtown BR would finally be something if they could do this to the entire Nicholson corridor.

You realize the cottages only cost a little over $500 a month right? I would hardly call that luxury.

Not everyone lived in a shite hole while attending college. You don't have to live in a POS apartment to appreciate not living in a POS apartment. I'm just seeing jealousy all over the place in this thread.

You just have to figure out where else to put the Section 8 housing though.

"Luxury student housing" should not exist. What happened to the days where college kids lived in shitty dorms and them upgraded to shitty off-campus housing? People on here talk about the pussification of America. This is part of it.

While I somewhat agree, and grew up when at best some daddy's girls lived in University Crossroads, High V, or Brooke Hollow, and guys(no matter how deep their family pockets were or quality of nice sled driven) lived in old ratty AC Lewis apts built many decades earlier..

It's just the way it is today, parents have long seen the smart play as buying condos, garden homes, instead of wasting rent for 5 or 6 years.

LSU's Tier 1 recruitment of Texas non-10%er students growing up in HTown McMansions and Dallas castles with Fortune 500 parents,etc..are accustomed to nice environs, outside of slumming one year in the flea-ridden frat house, they are gonna go grab a Beau Pre or Lake Beau Pre, The Venue,etc..place as their second college pads.

Toss in a better and more available college job market than ever in BR for students. TOPS, Perkins, and deeper college loans than formerly available to students,etc..

I see so many college kids in sushi joints, and non fast food joints in BR, it's unreal..

These kids eat $10 takeout sandwiches from Inga's, AM Mart,etc..they aren't on ramen or at Pancho's raising the flag.

No, I didn't know that - I've only seen the pool. I was under the impression The Cottages was the new "it spot" for undergrads.
