+1 for smaller banks. I've had accounts at larger banks, but I settled on a small local bank with only 5 branches. When I call the bank, I don't have to press 1 for English and navigate an endless menu. I get a person and many in the branch I go to most frequently know me by name. My checking account does have a monthly fee (< $10) but I don't mind it because I like doing business with them.

There is a smaller outfit based in my town. I'll have to check them out. They appear to offer the same services as Regions......they have low fees that are waived completely for requirements that we'll easily meet. Looks like they do the same type of lending as well.

Unfortunately there are no CapOne bank branches nearby, and Iberiabank's nearest branch isn't very convenient.
