Anyways, to sum up...no, OP is not a beta for a few reasons.

1)This is not his gf, this is not his date, this is not even a former SO or close friend. This is an "old acquaintance" that he just recently ran into (after who knows how long an absence) and they went out to catch up. Do none of yall have female friends that you used to know and haven't spoken to in years? If you went out to catch up with said female, would yall be on a date? Of course frickin not.

2)If sax player started hitting on girl and OP was like "whoa whoa guy...back the frick up. She's with me" that would be extremely awkward for her, not to mention make him seem very insecure and clingy as frick.

3)Lastly, and most importantly, we have no idea what was said between sax and girl while OP was in the bathroom. For all we know sax asked "so, are you here with your boyfriend?" like a gentleman and girl said "nah just an old friend, we're just catching up. Why don't you catch up with us later?" Then in parking lot he gets the digits. That doesn't make him a tool, nor does it reflect poorly on OP.
