Get the MK Fortrex and be done with it.
It has infinite speed control -- I run my 21' Bullet at a setting of about 30-35 (on a scale of 100). I've never come close to running the batteries down (Cheap Interstate Group 27 batteries that are now between 4 and 5 years old.)
These are virtually indestructible motors. The cheaper, weaker MK's may also be good, but these things are the best I've ever run
I fished club tournaments for years, the local "pro " circuit for years and have fished several of the national tournaments. For every tournament day, you can figure 3-4 practice days. The MK is a hoss.
