Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia -- Two people who traveled on the missing Malaysia Airlines flight under the passports of an Italian and an Austrian citizen appear to have bought their tickets together. The tickets were bought from China Southern Airlines in Thai baht at identical prices, according to China´s official e-ticket verification system Travelsky. The ticket numbers are contiguous, which indicates the tickets were issued together. The new information adds to the mystery that has enveloped the fate of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, the passenger jet that disappeared over Southeast Asia early Saturday on its way to Beijing.

That is interesting. Latest is that they are considering mid-air disintegration.

However, the source said the closest parallels were the explosion on board an Air India jetliner in 1985 when it was over the Atlantic Ocean and the Lockerbie air disaster in 1988. Both planes were cruising at around 31,000 feet when bombs exploded on board.
quote:
"The fact that we are unable to find any debris so far appears to indicate that the aircraft is likely to have disintegrated at around 35,000 feet," said the source, who is involved in the preliminary investigations in Malaysia.
quote:
f the plane had plunged intact from such a height, breaking up only on impact with the water, search teams would have expected to find a fairly concentrated pattern of debris, said the source, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly on the investigation.

Sounds like another TWA 800. We won't ever know what really happened. I doubt they'll conduct an equivalent investigation. Even after all the work done on TWA 800, some people still don't agree with the conclusions.

People on reddit are viciously attacking and downvoting anyone who says this could be terrorism

Avoid Reddit. It's become a terrible place to have any discussion

It's obviously not "terrorism." That's just so "Bush." A "man-made disaster" perhaps.

Who are said people and why should anyone give a shite? Are they seasoned NTSB investigators? Based on the passport thing and the way this crash went down you would have to be a moron not to think it was probably terrorism.

Coast to Coast will have the answer next week. It will be some form of Energy from another Dimension that comes from Entities that are trying to send us a message.

The total loss of electrical equipment would prevent signals about a problem, but the plane is designed to still fly under those circumstances, Marks said.
from the same article on possible scenarios:
quote:
— Accidental shoot-down by some country’s military. In July 1988, the United States Navy missile cruiser USS Vincennes accidently shot down an Iran Air flight, killing all 290 passengers and crew. In September 1983, a Korean Air Lines flight was shot down by a Russian fighter jet.
The plane was entering Vietnam air space - maybe those asshats made a mistake ala USSR v KAL.
May account for all the silence from everywhere.

I think it was a hijacking attempt gone bad

Just thinking about that scenario. We fessed up pretty quickly on the Vincennes shoot down. Some folks claim TWA 800 was shot down by the Navy. It's a very, very rare thing for a plane to spontaneously blow up without something hitting it.
There will be an investigation, and a conclusion to assure the public. Makes me want to pull out some of my old X-File DVDs.

I was always a bit skeptical about the TWA 800 conclusion. Arcing in the main fuel tank? I was hooking up with a KC-135 one night and saw a 16" mini static electricity lightning bolt GO DOWN THE AIR REFUELING DOOR just as the boomer was about to plug us. Probably happened all the time.
There was a B-52 that caught on fire, and the safety board concluded it was because of static electricity from a crew chief. I call bullshite on that one also. Nevertheless, we had safety pogues on the ramp making sure we rolled our gloves up and occasionally grounded bare skin to the aircraft.

quote:St Elmo's Fire during refueling is fairly common, you can get it bad enough it dorks up boom interphone.

An Interpol spokeswoman said a check of all documents used to board the plane had revealed more "suspect passports" that were being further investigated. She was unable to say how many, or from which country or countries.

Well disintegrated is interesting, an fuselage explosion would mean wings, and tail section in relatively one piece separating from the rest of the airframe. I am surprised there isn't insulation and other debris floating, even from FL350 it would be over a fair amount of ocean but still should be found. The odd thing is the large "oil slicks" which would be Jet A. If this thing came apart at FL350 there wouldn't be two large slicks.
