I don't go into the city much, but overall I like New Orleans and feel a sense of pride about the city and the Quarter. However, right now I'm in Chicago for the first time and have hit many of the museums and other tourist attractions over the past couple days. It made me realize what a dirty shite hole New Orleans is. Chicago is freaking awesome. The layout of downtown along Lake Michigan is amazing. Before coming here, I had no interest in traveling to the "big city" like Chicago or New York. Now I'm embarrassed to go back to New Orleans. Canal St. looks like skid row compared to any of the main streets here.

Chicago has some extremely shitty areas.

But I was in San Juan, and Old San Juan is basically a MUCH cleaner, infinitely nicer French Quarter.

Every city does, no doubt. I'm just saying that the heart of dowtown - the touristy area - blows away New Orleans.
