I know we are ABLE to make a trade, but the whole "two first round picks" thing is a whole different game. If a team wants to take him for two firsts, and he accepts the deal (and we don't match it), that's it... Right?
I guess in that situation we would still have the chance to talk to the team because I'm sure they'd try to do a trade for less first.
Is there a deadline for how long we have to counter their offer for him?

Yea, that's it. But it usually doesn't go that easily. The other team has more leverage knowing that the Saints are going to have trouble paying him, and that they want to at least get something for him.
Therefore I would think that would be best case scenario for the Saints. They slapped him with the non exclusive, so they know what they are in for.
