I'm not quite sure what you expect people you don't know on a message board to provide as far as info about your job.
15 years ago I was a young guy starting out right out of college at a small company and knew nothing. A women who handled the purchasing got pregnant and was going to "retire" and she suggested they move me up to replace her and I did.
I've gradually learned at various companies to be a buyer and do everything from being an purchasing analyst to a heavy construction subcontract administrator . Have done some contract management work too.
It's a pretty interesting field to be in.
I suggest you see if you have a local active chapter of ISM(formerly NAPM). Sign up and go to meetings. Get a certification through them.

Well, I'm not looking for specifics about my job but purchasing in general.
Thanks for the info on the ISM. I will look into that.
