Let us overanalyze the Rocky movies....

Rocky marathon is on. And so i figured this would be a good chance to analyze the Rocky films. For example, if Rocky had listened to Mickey when he said not to fight Clubber, perhaps Mickey would not have died the way he did and lived longer. And what is it with him and Adrian? Seems there is alot of tension between the two of them each film. And don't get me started about him and Pauly. Also, for all we know, it was Rocky that got Apollo killed. (Not throwing in the towel when he should have.)
So where do we start???

It was Rocky that got him killed. That's the only reason he fought Drago in the first place because he felt like he owed it to Apollo

How did Rocky not think to endorse every product on Earth after Paulie blew his money in Rocky V? He had already endorsed stuff in Rocky II so this wasn't a foreign concept to him. Clean cut white American Heavyweight champion would make bank.

Biggest flaw of the movies is that nobody ever put their hands up and every punch was so brutal

The more interesting question for me is would Rocky have beaten Clubber the first time if Mickey would not have been dying?
After being reluctant to train Rocky, Mickey seemed somewhat satisfied at the end that Rocky was ready and his last words of advice were to "take [his] time with him".
Rocky was worried about Mickey and not getting good direction from his corner. If Mickey would not have been shoved, does Rocky draw Clubber into the 13th, 14th, 15th rounds and wear him down?

I say had Mickey not been shoved. He would have lived. But still lost the fight with Clubber. He half assed his training. And was not in shape for the fight. As it is, even when Apollo trained him. They had to go for the quick knock out strategy. No way he could have lasted that many rounds vs Clubber.

I never understood why there was no rubber match between Clubber and Rocky.
You would think that Rocky vs Clubber III would have been a required fight for Rocky to retain his title.

Rocky dodged him afterward and Clubber was too overconfident to push for it prior to the 2nd fight.

I guess so.
They probably should have used a throw away line to say the title fell to Clubber after Rocky dropped it to fight the unsanctioned match vs Drago in IV.

Yeah let us say he had lost all his money. And was flat broke. He was still bankable. I knew he had trouble reading etc. But shoot, put him in commercials to endorse something. And tell someone to simply give him his lines. And I am sure they could have came out with more stuff to merchandise to make more money. Are you going to tell me his name was not worth a dam thing? And he was forced to go back to being broke, and back to the neighborhood where he was from?
Also, how old was Rocky by Rocky 5? I would say at least 36 or so. I seriously doubt that he would have won a street fight with Tommy Gunn, without Gunn coming back at some point and kicking his arse.

I'd have to say that Apollo is one of the biggest pusses in the history of film. Lost his heart and gave up even though he was in tip-top physical condition, and he seemed fine with it. His "exhibition" match with Drago was doomed from the moment he challenged the Russian and he KNEW it.
Hell, the same thing happened to him in Happy Gilmore.

Ivan Drago averaged 1850 psi per punch. He killed Apollo in the ring. Yet Rocky was able to stand toe to toe with him for like 15 rounds.

Rocky was like 2011 Alabama.
The fight scenes are too ridic to even analyze.
Maybe if Rocky doesn't fight Clubber twice his brain isn't so damaged and Rocky V is a lot different.

Interesting how Adrian changed throughout each movie. First she was this shy girl, who you can damn near argue was borderline retard. She transforms into his "rock" so to speak. But after a while it seems like she is sick of his insecurities. Always having to reassure him. Tell him what to do. Telling him constantly everything was ok. You can tell she ran him after a while. She becomes a borderline bitch at times. Perhaps she grew to resent his constant neediness after a while???

Once he told her to open her birthday prize she knew he was full retard and she was done.

If all it took was a push from Clubber Lang, he was going to suffer a heart attack eventually regardless. Those factors that lead to a heart attack accumulate and compound over time, they don't just happen because of a single stressful event. Mickey was a highly strung guy, it was just his time to go.
I think Rocky still loses that fight. He never fought anyone close to having Lang's power and needed to lose to know what it would take to win.

Yeah Mickey was due regardless. He was like 90 and they had to pass the torch to someone new, with a new idea of how to train for Clubber.

He was old in boxing years in the 1st movie, he has the kid in the 2nd movie, and the kid's like 12-13 by Rocky V. I'd think the youngest he'd be is like 45, so yeah an active young boxer at the time should probably kill him. Especially considering Rocky's brain damage.

I wonder what would have happened had Appolo came out of retirement to fight Clubber. With Rocky in his corner?
