I've posted this before but I'll do it again.
Short Term
1. Get the Europeans to get serious about tough economic sanctions on Russia to include energy.
2. Position some naval assets in the Black Sea or the at least the Eastern Med.
3. Conduct large scale military exercises in neighboring NATO countries like Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey.
Long Term
1. Restart missile defense efforts in Eastern Europe. And not under the guise of countering Iran. Make it plain that we feel Russia is a threat and the missile defense is there to counter their aggression.
2. Ask what's left of Ukraine to join the NATO.
3. Make permanent and expand the the Black Sea Rotational Force aimed at training Eastern European militaries.

Let's go even further. Try to rotate them onto the UN Security Council.
Anything and everything we can do to isolate Russia.

This would be an epic blunder IMO.

I'd say yup, but we already have large scale military "exercises" going on in neighboring Afghanistan...the Russians are well aware of our capabilities.

We should have never stopped them. Huge mistake.

This should happen tomorrow, frankly.

How would this work? That is, it there sufficient volume of natural gas from other sources to replace the European embargoed Russian natural gas?
