Len Bias dying was shocking, but many people figured he'd celebrated with too much blow (although, in reality, I don't think he did that much).

Hank Gathers dying was a shame. There were some warning signs in the days and weeks before his death, but he kept playing and his coaches and medical staff let him.

He was hysterical as Tom Hanks' degenerate brother in Splash. Intentionally dropping coins on the ground, so he could look up girls' skirts, the letters to Penthouse Forum, speaking Swedish he learned from porn movies... That character cracked me up!

I had forgotten about that one.

I thought your link was going to be a news report about Bias or Gathers, but I got Planes, Trains and Automobiles instead. Thanks for getting me back on track!

Him and Ramis were similar, both good guys. They'd put a smile on your face at any time.

Unrelated but--March 4, 1990 - Hank Gathers, American basketball player (b. 1967) and star at Loyola Marymount University collapsed and died during a game. He was the second player in NCAA Division I history to lead the nation in scoring and rebounding in the same season

Girl in bikini: (lifts top and shows breasts to John Candy) So what do you think? My husband said it was either these or a new table saw.

John Candy: Oh, I'd pick those over a power tool any day.

His death was a true tragedy.
