I guess I'll lose the dick measuring contest since I don't have "Russian" in my username and that means I'm no expert, but I do have a resume too and it appears mine is a little more up to date than yours.
How about you just refute what I said regarding the comparison with some sort of substance, rather than misconstruing the original post and then posting your qualifications?

Russian appears old, but not that old.
Zach and Carrolltontiger will be around shortly for their firsthand account of how it all went down with the Archduke.

In any case, Russia did not launch a full scale takeover of part of a sovereign country in the Balkans. Their military forces were part of the international force sent to the Balkans to enforce the Dayton Accord and subsequent peacekeeping agreements.
If you try to claim otherwise, you will just prove your ignorance.

If Poland, UK or Germany get involved in this shite could get bad. 1939 all over again

You need go back and read some history books and quit getting your history lessons from talk radio, because France did fight in WWII. They might have gotten their asses kicked and had over 100,000 troops killed in just six weeks, but that has nothing to do with a will to fight. However, Denmark is a different story, because they surrendered without firing a shot. Perhaps you're confusing the two countries.

Where did I claim that? I believe the comparison was made to Serbia -- the nation that historically dominated (or tried to dominate) the Balkan region and the former Yugoslavia -- attempting to wield its influence (first politically and then militarily) in the name of its ethnic Serbs to Russia doing the same today.Did I say they were identical? Not at all. Is the comparison faulty at best? Absolutely, and I alluded to as much.
If you weren't so dense and/or eager to tell us all your bona fides, perhaps you could have discerned that I never mentioned Russia, nor was it implicit.

I'm still waiting on your 'bona fides.'

I guess right about now Ukraine wishes they still had those nukes.

Thanks for adding to the discussion of the topic. Although I've noticed you rarely add to any discussion.
And I have plenty of friends. Thank you for your concern.

The frick are you talking about? Where in this thread did I allude to Russia invading Serbia when mentioning the Balkan conflicts?
You're 0-3. Not good for a self-proclaimed smart guy like yourself.

I've posted what I did in the past and still do today on multiple occasions. There are people on here who can vouch for my occupation and experience in foreign policy, and I don't feel the need to use it as a crutch when making a simple comparison that for whatever reason you can't seem to comprehend in the slightest.

I get what you're saying, but I disagree with your premise, for reasons stated in the OP. Russia is looking for any reason at this point to escalate in the name of defending ethnic Russians in Crimea. Threats -- even mobilization in the name of defending sovereign territory -- will be used as a pretext.

You said the only example of which reminded you of what is happening in Ukraine was in the "Balkan countries."
So, what "frick are you talking about?"
And I noticed you never even commented on your error that Russian troops are going to invade the Crimea which happened two days ago. Have you been under a rock since Wednesday?

Link it, because I don't know what you're specifically referring to. If I was wrong in a prediction, I'll be the first to admit it.

Mine was mentioned in the OP, along with this:
quote:
Considering that Ukraine is stuck between (a) giving up the peninsula, and thus a valuable sea port, or (b) inviting Russia in with a full scale war, what, in your opinion, should be done?
What say you?

Russian troops will undoubtedly move in to "protect the ethnic Russians" in Crimea.

If the Ukraine mobilizes then Poland and Romania will as well. Despite being somewhat smaller armies all three participate in NATO's partnership for peace. Poland and Romania are even full NATO members. This is really starting to look similar to the 1st World War. And what do you know it is 2014 of all years.
