I don't care for any type of formal affair, so I am not much on mardi gras balls...
parades, on the other hand, are a hell of a lot of fun if you don't have a problem dealing with drunks and crowds....

Like I typed above, there is a wide range between what is really considered a formal ball and what many groups put on.
