So obviously that is a legit rule then and they always follow score it that way. That's bizarre.
All that did in that situation was piss the pitcher off because his ERA went up

I'm obsessive about baseball rules and scoring, so I'm pretty pissed at myself that I didn't know this rule.
I just emailed the MLB about this rule, so I'll let you know what they come back with. I won't feel better unless they respond and let me know that the MLB reverts back to the previous inning. I cannot find this situation addressed anywhere in the MLB rules or scorekeeping guidelines.
