The first one is one of the best games I've played period. I love sci-fi and rpgs and the blend was great. The writing was exceptional, level design was great, locations were amazing, I couldn't get enough of this game!!!!

I waited years for the 2nd game, and then!!! They took everything game play wise that I loved and threw it in the trash. The writing was still good, but nothing like the first. The level design shrunk all of the worlds down considerably, the characters had little substance (in my opinion) compared to the first game, certain story lore is just extinguished and forgotten about, the inventory system was taken out, GAH! It was a game that was streamlined to play more like Gears of War, which is fine, but it wasn't why I fell in love with the first game.

Mass Effect 3................sigh. It took the things I liked from 2 and the remnants of the things I loved about 1 and just shite all over them. Just right on top of them and had no apologies for it.


Go play Borderlands.
