For example. I don't recall a President ever issuing EO's for agencies to ignore existing laws. Or, EO's retroactively amending parts of existing laws by changing deadlines set by congress in the law.

To me, that is a very dangerous precedent.
It's analogous to a person and his friends all crying foul over discussion he might lose his drivers license after his only 2nd citation. He notes another man with 4 citations, and no one threatening to take his license. The fact that there is a difference in severity between 2 DUIs vs 4 parking meter violations apparently escapes the complaining parties, or so they claim.

Obama is using his EOs to break or circumvent the law. Previous POTUS's used EOs as aids in enforcing the law. Perhaps that is salient?
