The symptoms don't show up until it's far along, so it's nearly always in an advanced stage when it's discovered.

To the OP, I'm very sorry. I've known two people who had it. One the mother of a good friend of mine and the sweetest lady you'd ever want to meet. Spend as much time with your uncle as you can.
