I'm not really sure, other than to guarantee that a defense will be able to substitute.

Auburn faked plenty of people out this year by rush by rushing up to the line and then not snapping the ball immediately. Giving them time to see the defense and not allowing the subs to actually come in.

this is basically leveraging the rules in your favor, which is outside the spirit of competition, imo. However, more rules isn't really the answer.

Auburn did it with big LSU tattoo on their backside. Their "Year to Remember" was momentarily interrupted by a Tiger Paw down their backside.
