We went to 2 finals fours under Dale, you fricking idiot.

But yet Dale couldn't win it all with quite possibly the most talented college basketball team ever assembled. Ask anyone that played at LSU when Rick Huckabay was an assistant and they will tell you that he was the real coach of the teams. Dale just motivated them.

Everybody forgets that he ended his career with 4 losing seasons.

Hey bud... show me your record. Only Rupp has won more games in the SEC than Dale Brown. I was there.

It's already been stated here but I'll repeat if for you since you obviously missed it. The GT team that he lost to that year had 4 NBA players on it (3 first rounders, 2 top 5 picks). So maybe Dale didn't lose with the "greatest team ever assembled".
But lets say you are right, wouldn't it be nice if JJ could assemble the greatest team in the history of CBB and make it to a final four? Or would you complain about that too like you are with Dale?

"Hey, that guy assembled the greatest team CBB has ever seen and went all the way to the final four. What a shitty coach. Derp!"

Do you even read what you post? You are complaining about a guy who assembled what you call the greatest team ever and went to the final four.

No. Phi Slamma Jamma and the Fab Five say hello (there are others). Phi Slamma Jamma had two of the eventual top 50 NBA players of all time on their team.
LSU was very talented though. Georgia Tech was equally talented.

Motivating your team is one of the biggest parts of being a great coach. You can know your Xs and Os like nobody else, but if you can't motivate your team to play hard and do what you've taught them, you'll lose to "inferior" teams more than you should. Xs and Os are important too, but it's part of the winning equation just like motivation. Dale knew some Xs and Os too. He upset the eventual NCAA runner up in his first game at LSU. I'm gonna go ahead and assume we didn't have special talent then.

I don't think anybody has forgotten that. It's just overshadowed by all the success he had at a place that had nothing going on in basketball before he came along.
