I was not even in that conversation. I was talking about the legality of drugs.

If that's all you want to talk about then stop hijacking this thread and start your own damn thread on the subject of legalizing drugs.

Can you read?

I was responding to someone else, not hijacking.

In fact I did respond to that issue in a recent post.

It is all politics. Not practical at all.
Some right wingers are as crazy as the lefties, that is all.

you want to make something illegal BECAUSE someone may rob to buy it.

yet, you do not want to consider the method by which they commit the robbery.

My point is that robbery is illegal regardless of the method or the motivation.

And my point is that just because someone wants to smoke weed or put some other illegal drug in their body it doesn't automatically mean there aren't going to be some innocent victims.

How many things can you list that people do that cannot or does not result in innocent victims?

Drinking, Driving, Texting, Flying.

Almost anything we can do as humans can have unintended consequences on innocent people.

if they really wanted to lower their incarceration costs, they could just legalize drugs.

Arrests would approach zero. And then they could get rid of the sheriff all together. Saving big $$

And people wonder why the police/private jails are in favor of strict drugs laws. Got to keep that money coming in.

I said he was using a loony lefty tactic.

If you want to interpret that to mean the same thing as calling him a loony lefty that's okay with me.

If it walks like duck and quacks like a duck...

That's why it is illegal to drink or text while driving a car or flying a plane.

All of those incarcerated non violent pot smokers who are poor can use the money they would have spent on pot to pay for their own food and medical bills.

Hell, they will probably even have some money left over after they pay for food and medical bills when they get out of prison to buy more pot.

In the future just stick to the subject of the thread and don't resort to using a loony left tactic like making an absurd example to try to make someone who expresses their valid reasons for disagreeing with you about one of your opinions and just state some valid reasons why you feel the way you do then that's all you need to do to prove to me that you are not a duck.

If you would take the time to go back and read my posts, there were all in response to other posts. An my absurd examples were simply using the poor argument posted by others against them.

For example: the earlier posted that in he was tired of seeing people smoking weed and skipping school and then later get arrested for killing someone. I responded to him using his ridiculous argument and a touch of sarcasm

That is it, you simply need to go to the Dr and have him repair your broken sarcasm detector. I can look up the part number for you if that would help.

Yep, the Millenials are such go getting critical thinkers as it is, easing their access to mind altering substances is just the ticket for the country's continued dominance!

As I tell the ones I know at work, I am perfectly happy with the thought of being dead when they are running things. This country is going to be a real shithole by then.

Not saying it is a good thing for people to do.

Just do not think we should be putting people in jail for things that are simply not good to do.

I always make the time to read every post made in every thread I start.

You gave an absurd example in an attempt to make him appear stupid and/or crazy instead of just giving valid reasons for your own opinion. At least that's the way it came across to me and that tactic is used all the time by loony lefties when they respond to opinions of those on the right.

Maybe we need a sarcasm emoticon that you can use so in the future your subtle sarcasm will be obvious to others.

It is not often that you can take what I say on here at face value. Usually trying to point out the silliness of someone's liberal (sometimes conservative) position.

That being said, having had a brother spend some time in lockup on more than one occasion, the county will simply extract more money from the families like they do on the telephone calls. I do understand the popular sentiment that suggest that anything bad we can do to those bad criminals on the inside we should do. However, just like the government types often do, there are unintended consequences, in this case on the families of the prisoners.
