I've seen guys get jerked down and their face smashed. Most those guys have a hard enough time making enough money to make it to the next rodeo. Reconstructive surgery isn't in their budget. I never wore one but the vest no doubt saved me some stitches and hospital visits

I understand the vest. Was more referring to the headgear.
