The fishing.

The ball parks. When I grew up there, youth athletics pitted neighborhood against neighborhood. You lived in Buccaneer Villa North, you played for Vista; you lived in Arabi, you played for Carolyn Park, etc. There were rivalries with your classmates at school. The system in Slidell sucks by comparison.
I know da Parish has changed since Katrina, but I relish my childhood there. I would not have wanted to grow up anywhere else. It was the best of everything.

This is one of the things I miss the most growing up there pre-Katrina. Each age group was different but for mine baseball was owned by Versailles and Rebel, basketball was Vista and Carolyn Park, football by Kennilworth and Rebel, and Bourgemouth or w/e was competitive in almost all of them.

you failed to mention Versailles or Rebel Park
